THE BALE Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia

Private & exceedingly luxurious villas

Nestled away within Nusa Dua is The Bale, a boutique resort and collection of bespoke villas designed to provide the ultimate in luxurious villa life. Some may argue that The Bale has, over the years, been overshadowed by recent additions of mega resorts to the area. But The Bale is in-our-books well under way to become timeless gem.

The Villas

The Bale has one of the best villa layouts in Bali. Every feature, has been positioned with precision and logic. The best feature of the villa was the the bathroom and tub areas which opens up through sliding doors, down water submersed steps and into the private infinity edge pool.

Amenities were also excellent; 4 variations of bath salts and oils, 6 different locally produced bath soaps and high-quality toothbrushes and razors. The provision of excellent bathrobes and plush towels also adds to the sheer lavishness that the villa exudes.

Oh… and they probably have one of the most comfortable beds in Asia. The combination of pillow selection, high threadcount sheets paired perfectly with the tension within the mattress.

THE resort

Well equipped with a couple of restaurants, a small library and gym. Most of the guests spend their days relaxing within the privacy of their own villas. However, venture out and you’d find spots of tranquility for meditative use on hotel’s common grounds.

The main swimming pool is uniquely designed with in-water sun beds which is a rather nice feature. One thing that we love is the private area within the already very secluded beach, this is the perfect spot to fall asleep in the sun or for that early morning jaunts to catch the sunrise.

Daily breakfast was served in-villa and the spread was atypical of most Balinese hotels; delicious nasi goreng, Indonesian noodles and fresh pressed juices were our breakfast of choice. The internationally themed meals, Japanese bento and eggs benedict, didn’t disappoint either.

“While at the beach order an avocado ice cream, chicken sates and wash it down with a nice ice-cold Bintang beer. ”

Part of the fun was dining at the various private areas in the resort, by the pool, next to the beach, and in the hotel restaurant. The food was kept traditional and was absolutely delicious; each dining area has been designed to secure a sense of intimacy and privacy unparalleled in any resort we have reviewed.
